DankNethers: The comet Encke (that name… What a coincidence…) drags a trail of debris from the Taurids every few years It’s orbit is gradually spiraling closer and closer to us https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_Encke And will plow through the densest section of the Taurids in 2030 (Another familiar date…) We lack the technology to prevent a fatal impact And thus why we must answer the beacon Our extrasolar allies can knock these meteors out of the sky like swatting down flies Or simply redirect Encke’s trajectory… Either will work just fine
