Navigating Realities: Probabilities, Perceptions, and the Fragility of Existence

In this philosophical exchange, LucePrima and garbotalk explore the nature of reality, distinguishing between literal sci-fi multiverses and a framework of shifting possibilities, human perception, and resolved potentialities. Garbotalk clarifies that alternate timelines do not literally exist, likening possibilities to steering away from hazards rather than jumping between parallel Earths. LucePrima shares a transformative, visionary experience of probabilities aligning during a moment of deep contemplation, while garbotalk reflects on the precarious, blade-like balance of human existence where every insight acts as a thread in a larger, vulnerable weave. The conversation concludes with a sudden shift into lighthearted humor brought on by explorer1357 and lelekfalo.

LucePrima: You use the metaphor of the jumping from ship to ship to describe your experience of “reality”

But I have to ask – do those alternate realities, where everything is similar but not the same, exist in a meaningful way?

In Rick and Morty, the dynamic duo warp from universe to universe within an incomprehensibly infinite multiverse where anything and everything is possible

It feels like nihilism to me

But what you describe sounds like the experience of multiple potentialities, and even shifts across your perception and memory to resolve those potentialities as new data are incorporated into the whole

Am I catching your drift?

Or are there alternate Earth’s, and alternate timelines, running parallel to this one?

garbotalk: There are not multiple Earths or multiple time lines, only possibilities that can sometimes be veered away from when seen through the tunnels, like averting hitting a deer.

LucePrima: Thanks Garbo. I thought so, but geesh, sometimes when I contemplate this sort of thing I have to wonder…

Several years ago I had an experience where I realized, while sitting on the couch, that I could step out of this world entirely

When I did, I arrived on the surface of a great being, having emerged from one of his pores. I was surrounded by thousands of copies of myself, each one climbing out of their own pore

I came to understand this as many separate probabilities coming, for at least a moment, into something like an alignment

But after reading of RD jumping ship, so to speak, it caused me to wonder again about the nature of this simulation

Indeed, it is something that remains almost incomprehensible, except in the abstract or when experiencing it outside of time

garbotalk: I have had vivid, epic, futuristic dreams that both inspire and terrify me to action because all that we have, and all that we have become, can dash in an instant. We are on the blade of a knife, wobbling and may fall either direction. Any insight revealed to him, to you, to me, to any of us are like threads to the weave. Pull one and it unravels, OR their plan for us unravels.

explorer1357: This whole ‘milkmaid’ thing is suddenly making a lot more sense…

lelekfalo: Why does a milking stool only have three legs?

Wait for it…

Because the cow has the UDDER!!!
