Perhaps it would help if your species stopped thinking of ‘spiritual warfare’ as being something without physical substance or being purely celestial in nature.
‘Spiritual’ things are just physical things beyond your current understanding.
The off-world social framework alone as represented outside the simplistic baby food and propaganda that is your current science fiction would throw you for a complete loop.
Even thought itself is just another state of matter.
The idea that spiritual things are not material in form blinds you, binds you and confuses you against the realities of your true situation.
