Image: Japan had long been a dream travel destination for me, particularly once I heard about the Nagano snow monkeys. I’ve always had a thing for monkeys and their strange human-like tendencies. As we hiked through the snow to the mountain onsens (natural volcanic hot springs) where they congregate, I couldn’t believe my eyes as hundred of them lay in a trace in the volcanic heated water of the springs. garbotalk: The fact is, you do cavort with us, and have done so for some time. Unfortunately, most of the humans you interact with in the world think you’re some regular guy with an excellent repartee and great vocabulary. They have no clue what you’ve gone through to be here, and no appreciation of the sacrifice you’ve made to do so. That must be isolating.
Then there are we “in the know” sapiens who will happily listen to you wax on about tomatoes and fiat currency and accordions, and you can be your feathery self, even without the feathers. And we won’t freak out.
It might be nice, for a change, to be around someone like me, if only for a little while.
If you have an opportunity, or a need, I am here for you or any of your associates. I would welcome it.
But don’t call me an ape. I just saw planet of the apes and it seemed to me to be a Kayeen/human metaphor.
