To publicly answer another anonymous question:
In the military, there are rules and then there are rules meant to be broken.
They are meant to be broken so that the wise officer can use their violations to compel loyalty from your men.
I would suggest to you that you take one of your subordinates with you and ‘discover’ the case of beer.
Make sure that this is done before several of your men.
Let your subordinate behave like the tight-ass that he is and while he overreacting like he always does pull out a couple of cans and hand one to him.
He’ll be shocked but he’ll finally shut up.
Pop the can and look at him as if you’re waiting for him to do the same.
He will.
Then say ‘cheers’ click the cans together, and take a drink.
Look disparagingly at the can you drank from and complain that it isn’t cold enough or something of the sort and then just walk away with your subordinate and leave the case where you found it.
Ship gossip will carry your legend forwards and a strong loyalty will follow your lead.
