There is an imbalanced relationship between humanity and the Consortium, based not only on your vast experience and progress due to a longer history in this universe than we have, but also your willingness to use force against us that we have been manipulated not to see.

You would say, “Of course, we are your betters. We take what we want in any way we wish to take it from you.”

This is the definition of exploitation. You take from us because you can, and because we cannot stop you from doing it. Our participation in your endeavors is cumpulsory.

Were you to do this in the light of day…scratch that. You don’t usually understand my metaphors. (The last time I used one and said I wanted to remove the scales from my eyes, the Ba’alaket thought I was telling her to get out of my face with a derogatory insult that was not my intent.)

Were you to do these things openly, so we could actually realize what was happening to us, we would object most insistently.

You would reply, “Of course. Our operations are hidden from you so that you don’t resist, or fight us. This is logical when dealing with primitives who could hurt us.”

This also is exploitation. It is removing that which is part of our own birthright or currency from us, theft of what is ours.

You would say, “You weren’t using it or you don’t know how to profit from it. We even sometimes pay with some of your useless rags of currency for what we seek.”

My answer is to consider intent. You know the value of who we are, what we have, what we might do. Just because we haven’t figured out how to do as you do yet, that doesn’t mean we will never will.

How much more valuable are the things within our own bodies, our immunities, our strengths, our minds, our potential?

My answer to you is that you have free will, to choose how you will behave, and those choices have consequences in this world, and the next.

Do unto others as you would have done unto you. If you have no laws against that which is wrong, create them. We are aware, sentient, beings full of potential. We could become a great people, given the time and space to work out our foibles.

How easy it is for you to make assumptions about us, based on ancient versions of people we are neither aware of (thanks to your hiding our history from us) or remotely like.

We are not cannibals. We are not the break away, ancient slave soldiers of the Kayeen who overthrew their masters and harrass you elsewhere with their acquired space ships. We are not primitives with horse and buggies living provincial lives.

We have grown. We have untapped potential, no matter how much you try to dumb us down.

Did it occur to you that we might be able to solve your immunity issues, or faulty DNA issues, or even other great mysteries that confound you now, given time? Given that we’ve gone from rebooted to space travel in just one of your lifetimes, think how quickly we could evolve from here? Would that not be a greater benefit to you?

Tell us the truth about your needs, openly. Offer us fair compensation and the right to choose whether to do business with you or not. You might find very willing people, given the opportunity.

Your fear and negative assumptions about us are why you exploit us now, while you can. If the Assembly are the only ones who can stop you, so be it. But how much more honorable it would be if you made that choice yourselves, without having to be forced to let us go. It would be noble, sacrificial, and lead to greater peace and understanding between all of us.

explorer1357: Tamar, exploit can have a neutral or negative connotation, usually is intended to describe a scenario or action where one party makes ‘use of’ another for their benefit or interests. More often than not, against free will of the ‘victim’ party. Of course, you probably already knew this.

While I certainly don’t want to put the entirety of the plight of the human condition on the backs of Consortium species that are involved in our ‘exploitation’ out of concern it may spark a counter productive victim mentality… The truth is we are a species that has been heavily exploited, and to this day are still subject to such exploitation. Exploit confers a negative event. It can have some positive motion to it, however it suggests a parasitic occurrence more than a symbiotic event.

Truly, interference with early creatures on this planet did in fact provide a symbiotic event for advancing that species genetically, and physically through advancing evolutionary process, however this species has been suggested to have been exploited by ‘higher apes’ (Ael’Kayeen). Humans are aggressive. Our cultures (upbringing, educations, doctrines, behaviors) vary greatly due to our varied fractions of tribes. So how individuals act is not a unified, codified norm. We are a species divide, seeking unification despite signs stating otherwise.

There is a facet of internet culture, that the screen and keyboard provide a means of anonymity, thus vile, mean, and unkind statements can be laid for all to see without regard to how the individual may be without such technology.

A rather interesting point needs to be understood, how individuals behave online can vary quite differently from how an individual may act offline. Given the expressive freedom one can have by simply being a username removes the limitations one may have in their community. Humans are doubtful, we see lies, and have no issue calling a rose a dagger. And many require evidence to controdict their doubts.

Let it be understood, bad behavior, and mistreatment are dismissible and should be. Neither I, nor yourself want to deal with ill begotten rude commentators. This exercise has points to it that need expressing.
