This information must be studied and the clues figured out. Those who do this important work will not be doing it here on Reddit; it’s too public a place to reveal our hand. showoffjp: What genres are you mainly focused on? I am guessing you play the piano, yes? Your music theory is solid.

explorer1357: Ok, so heres the funny thing – I actually dont KNOW HOW to ‘play’ piano in regards to reading notes and stuff. I literally just learned to play by ear. Music theory… idk what that is lol. I got the keyboard and started putting stuff together. I have no idea how to use the computer programs people use to make music, so its all manual playing, like my Mustang lol… Anyways, the downside is that I have to do it all by hand. I set a tempo, and play/record the base layer. Then I add strings. Then drums, then some trumpet, then specific strings such as the tremolos when the song calms down midway – i just develop the song along the way I didnt really have any plan in mind, I only looked at the WOW SIGNAL background and whatever feelings I got from the whole answering the beacon thing is what I used to decide what instruments to use. That also means if I screw up on a part, I have to record the whole thing over again to fix it. For instance, I actually had to record the drum part twice because I messed up at the end. Its annoying but its what I have to work with lol. Genres – i like everything but salsa and funky stuff like that. Its all about the feels and imagination lol.

explorer1357: LOL yeah I realized I should have made it a bit shorter and given it a more smoother buildup. I listen to many, many kinds of music. Club hip hop, to ambient, to darker stuff like this song feral love by chelsea wolf (or whatever her name is…) I mostly like stuff that sends me on a different world, imagining im in like an air to air combat or like space missions. Anything really. Except Salsa and other funky latin music, even though im Mexican American lol.

If it’s not and there’s any truth to it, as I believe there is, then it’s given me a lot to consider, and honestly, it’s overwhelming. Thanks to rd and others for doing the right thing.

showoffjp: I have always been absolutely addicted to good ideas, being especially devoted to finding the truth of every one of them. I’ve grown up seeing my family hoarding possessions, and frustrations against each other. I decided to break the trend, despite my idiosyncratic inclination. I’ve always tried to redirect / compartmentalize it in a ‘positive’ way, especially if it is something that I will be subjugated to because of my likely predisposition; so I horde knowledge instead of materialistic things, and utilize that strategy as a cognitive mnemonic to war against my inherent weaknesses. While reading G.R.R.M., I read a quote I will always remember: “Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” With that being said, I think you are completely full of shit. God speed.

Very grateful for all contributions and of course to garbotalk and reptiliandude.
