CRISPR gene editing is not quite as precise and as safe as thought.

Reptiliandude asserts that his species is genetically incompatible with humans and had no part in their creation, instead blaming profit-driven “socially repugnant opportunists” for recklessly tampering with the human genome. He warns that this blind pursuit of quick biological fixes, fueled by arrogance and a lack of foreknowledge, will ultimately result in “demonic” distortions rather than the angelic evolution promised by modern biotechnology.

Reptiliandude: I have nothing to say to that individual even through you. But for your sake I will answer them so that you and others might understand.

I’ve already explained to him that my species had nothing to do with mixing our own DNA with yours.

There are millions of years of genetic barbed wire placed between our ladders. You are one species, and we are another.

The ones who modified you were those who could profit from your similarity to them, and sell product from that difference to others * like them.*

It was not only a business endeavor, but one in which they had hoped would increase both their political strength and power.

Your genetic industry is in its infancy.

As time goes on, if you survive yourselves you will understand what can happen to you when you rush to do things for the sake of quick profits.

You will understand how tinkering with something to solve a perceived problem which took millions of years to change many links will quickly respond to rid itself of the results of contagions used as pry bars.

That is not to say any good will come from it, only that you must be careful that in chasing a mosquito out of the house you don’t break a window near a hornets nest.

There are many foolish assumptions about the genetics industry which have been cultivated by those seeking to aquire funding from investors unfamiliar with it.

These are of the same greedy, easily excitable mentality which foolishly poured their savings into the dot com boom.

The funding that has been poured into human genetic research has never, ever borne back any significant returns. The entire industry lost hundreds of billions during the Clinton administration when investors discovered how few genes humans really had and that the powers that be would freely publish knowledge of the human genome through the state-funded project.

The investors in the privately funded project, these socially repugnant opportunists, had placed their bets against humanity.

They actually thought of their own kind as made up of something that was the equivalence of the proprietary software/hardware system that Apple uses, and could not conceive of the structure of the human genome being made public, when incredible profits could be made from its obfuscation.

Besides this, the response the industry gives to its angry, impatient investors has always been “more time, we need more time…”

Now they have CRISPR.

A cute marketing acronym for developing the ability to tinker even more with things they don’t clearly understand. Theirs is an industry dominated by impatient businessmen, not scientists.

And those businessmen have one purpose, the acquisition of quick profits.

As for the genetic researchers there, the majority of them have been indoctrinated into the philosophy of the almighty accident, and of the lack of purpose outside man’s ability to meddle with and give it that very thing. It is a toxic combination.

And it blinds one from understanding that genes possess the ability to look as though they were coded with changes that were already considered and rejected.

They will solve many problems, and underestimate and suppress knowledge of the new ones their carelessness and apathy have created.

Businessmen without any real knowledge of the craft shall boast that through the power of coin, they shall rival the creativity of nature—“for nature is ignorant and does all things according to chance.”
“We shall give nature a lesson in what can be done!”
And to that, nature shall respond in like manner of the tale that discribes how the Lord dealt with the boastful Lucifer; who in his arrogance claimed that he himself would sit upon the throne of the most high.

The story is one that demonstrates how wealth and power forget that true leadership requires something called foreknowledge.

In the story, that one who sits upon throne is the living, eternal embodiment of foreknowledge.

Again, something which the boastful, cosmic winged monkey was willfully in denial of.

Unfortunately, the Church in its desire to aquire funds and keep its parishioners in line, focuses only on the arrogance of pride aspect of the story.

Despite great advances in genetic research, the industry is unable to even predict height with any significantly impressive degree of accuracy.

You can still do more with a tape measure among the happy couple about to have their first child and can predict their child’s height with far more reliable accuracy and for billions of dollars cheaper.

And yet these same people who are now using the parts of contagions as tools to affect change are boasting that they shall give men wings.

It’s a pity that to remain consistent with human genetic structure they will discover to their dismay that to be replicated consistently those wings will be more like those of a bat, and will result in distorted limbs and practically useless fingers.

It shall not be angels they create, but something more akin to demons.

It is for reasons such as this that the Kayeen used a primate species far removed from casual observations. So, again… what possible reasons would there be for my species to modify early humans?

What possible purpose would it serve?

To create slave labor?

What an unimaginative accusation.

You have to feed and clothe and house slaves.

Neither of these things are required when one uses thinking machines, of which we have plenty, and have had plenty of for thousands of your years.

Again, I have explained this already, and yet the accusations keep on being levied and the questions keep on being brought up.

Perhaps you can create a thread and put this answer there, as I am tired of defending my species against questions brought up by those who lack both understanding and reading comprehension.

Garbotalk: I’ll add this to the science thread. Your thoughtful response is helpful.

To those of us without advanced scientific training, those who claim to modify genes for the purpose of addressing cancer or disease make it seem a simple thing. And yet I’ve always feared the Frankenstein’s monster it would produce to haphazardly tinker with our own genome. I’m glad to hear that reptilians had no part in our modification.

Stories like Jurassic Park, meant to terrify us away from such scientific endeavors have had the reverse result. Scientists are actively seeking to reproduce dinosaurs and other extinct creatures from our past. God refuses to be mocked. Those who splice and throw our heredity asunder will not escape freely.
